I’ve just finished a 54-episode marathon of Kara Para Aşk (Black Money Love), and honestly, this addictive Turkish TV series completely took over my life throughout June 2026! Engin Akyürek and Tuba Büyüküstün were absolutely brilliant.
My dear reader, if you somehow start watching either of these Turkish TV series, I can almost guarantee that you will get hooked. You may even forget everything else and spend your days binge-watching episode after episode!
So, dear reader, did watching the series make you want to visit the filming locations in Istanbul? If yes, please keep reading 🙂
If you have watched either series and want to visit the Istanbul filming locations from your favourite Turkish dramas, this guide is just for you 🙂
I will definitely watch more Turkish series, and list filming locations from there in future! So please watch out this space.
Fatmagül Sucu Ne? Filming Locations

Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? lasted a whopping 80 episodes, and many of its scenes unfold in Istanbul. As the characters’ personal circumstances change, they also move houses several times throughout the series.
Fatmagül Familiy’s First House

After moving all the way from Izmir to Istanbul, Fatmagül and her family have to organise their new life from scratch. They even renovate their new house themselves.
Kerim is incredibly talented when it comes to DIY, so the family soon manages to make the house feel comfortable and homely.
The house has only one floor, with a couple of bedrooms, a dining room and a living room. I always enjoyed watching the interior design in this house. Honestly, I would love to have a sophisticated living space like this one in the series!
Kadir’s House

At some point in the series, Fatmagül’s family moves into Kadir’s house. Kadir is Fatmagül’s lawyer, and honestly, I do not believe this kind of thing would ever happen in real life!
I was genuinely confused by this storyline. Of course, a client and a lawyer can build a good relationship and help each other outside their consultation hours.
But would they really end up sharing the same house? Like all of them, not just Fatmagül, but the whole family?
I would say the drama director’s imagination has no limits. In her mind, herself and Fatmagül’s family living with their lawyer is perfectly possible.
And perhaps it simply does not matter whether something like this could happen in real life or not!
Anyway, Kadir’s house is a huge upgrade compared with Fatmagül’s family’s first single-storey home. The house is located in an upmarket district on Istanbul’s quieter Anatolian side.
A large family like Fatmagül’s would have plenty of space to live, grow and raise their children there. Without giving away too many spoilers, this house also witnesses several key family events as you continue watching the series.
And yes, I promise you: some of those are happy occasions 🙂
The house also becomes an important setting for the romantic side of the series. Several scenes are filmed there in a romantic atmosphere, and a couple (Fatmagül and Kerim) would certainly have a very happy life in this home.
I will not reveal exactly which scenes I mean! I do not want to spoil the story for you! But as a viewer, you should definitely expect all kinds of romantic moments to unfold in this Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? filming location.
If you are exploring Istanbul filming locations from the series, Kadir’s house is another location worth adding to your list.
Fatmagül and Kerim’s New Home

Fatmagül changes her Istanbul home once again, but this time she moves out with Kerim. The rest of her family do not join them.
Several characters, especially the male characters, help furnish and renovate the house so that Fatmagül and Kerim can start living there together.
Once again, the DIY skills and interior design really shine in the series. How many times did I wonder whether all the houses in Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? came straight from an impressive home design showroom?
As the series is nearing its end, you will not see too many scenes in this house. However, I promise that the scenes, which do take place there are some of the most unforgettable moments in the entire series.
Kara Para Ask Filming Location in Istanbul

Kara Para Ask family in action. Yes, it’s Engin Akyürek once again 🙂 Photo: imdb
The series was filmed mostly in Istanbul, with occasional scenes shot in Rome. Having visited Istanbul a couple of times myself, I particularly enjoyed seeing familiar landmarks such as the Bosphorus Bridge and the Valens Aqueduct appear on screen at night.
As I continue expanding this section, I have just realised something: Kara Para Aşk seems to have made a real effort to include as many iconic Istanbul tourist attractions as possible.
Rumeli Fortress, the Grand Bazaar and the Valens Aqueduct are all among Istanbul’s most famous landmarks and popular tourist attractions. So, did Kara Para Aşk deliberately showcase these Istanbul filming locations to promote tourism in the city?
Maybe yes. Maybe not.
Either way, the series gives viewers a fantastic visual tour of Istanbul. And for fans like me, discovering these Kara Para Aşk filming locations makes visiting the city even more exciting!
Denizer Mansion

The series gives the approximate location of Denizer Mansion correctly: Bebek, Istanbul.
However, Bebek is far away from Istanbul’s main tourist attractions in the Historical Peninsula, such as Fatih. Reaching the mansion can be quite challenging, and you may need to take at least two buses — just like the characters do in the series!
But if you are as obsessed with Kara Para Aşk as I was, visiting Denizer Mansion will be absolutely worth the effort.
The mansion is home to the Denizer family, and many important scenes from the series unfold there. In my opinion, you simply cannot explore Kara Para Aşk filming locations in Istanbul without visiting this iconic house.
If you would like to enter the mansion, private tours are also available.
Rumeli Fortress

Located just a 21-minute walk from Denizer Mansion, Rumeli Fortress is another fascinating Kara Para Aşk filming location in Istanbul. The producers chose this historic fortress as a dramatic backdrop for the series, and honestly, I can understand why!
Rumeli Fortress was originally built for a very specific purpose: to help Mehmed the Conqueror complete the 1453 siege of Constantinople. Today, however, the fortress is one of Istanbul’s hidden gems and an incredible place to explore the city’s history.
Some Istanbul travel guides even argue that you cannot truly talk about the Byzantine history of Istanbul without mentioning Rumeli Fortress. Mehmed the Conqueror built this impressive monument before the fall of Constantinople, which ultimately marked the end of the Byzantine Empire.
So, what do you think about this theory?
Was Kara Para Aşk simply using Rumeli Fortress as a spectacular filming location, or did the producers also deliberately connect the series with Istanbul’s fascinating history?
Either way, if you are searching for Kara Para Aşk filming locations in Istanbul, Rumeli Fortress definitely deserves a place on your travel itinerary.
Valens’ Aquaduct

Address: Kalenderhane, 34083 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye
Another Byzantine relic appears frequently in Kara Para Aşk: the Valens Aqueduct.
Compared with Rumeli Hisarı or Denizer Mansion, the Valens Aqueduct is much easier to visit if you are staying in Fatih or Kadıköy, two popular areas for tourists in Istanbul.
The aqueduct is no longer used to transport water today. Instead, it stands over one of the busy roads on Istanbul’s European side and is surrounded by the city’s notorious traffic.
Grand Bazaar

Address: Beyazıt, 34126 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye
As the series progresses, you will discover that this area plays an important role in Ömer’s family history and his present life. I will avoid giving away too many spoilers and let you discover the story yourself!
As a tourist, you will also find plenty of souvenirs to take home around the area. Local residents shop here too, so you may come across something interesting.
I genuinely recommend chatting with the shopkeepers. Many of them are incredibly hospitable and may even offer you a cup of Turkish tea while you have a little chat.
Just be careful of tourist rip-offs!
Hippodrome

Address: Sultan Ahmet Parkı No:2
When you watch a series about a police officer, you naturally expect to see plenty of police station scenes. Ömer seems to work around the clock!
For me, the producers of Kara Para Aşk came up with one of the best filming ideas ever: a police station located right beside the Hippodrome.
It was so entertaining to watch these beautiful actors in action against the backdrop of Istanbul’s historic Byzantine landmarks.
Unfortunately, the real Hippodrome does not actually contain the police station shown in the series. So please do not arrive at the Hippodrome expecting to see police cars and officers walking around!
The building used as the police station is actually home to Hagia Sophia Experience and Ibrahim Pasha’s House.
Jokes aside, if you ever need help from the police while visiting the area, a tourism police booth is located at the intersection between the Hippodrome and the tramway. It is open 24/7, so please speak to the officer there if you need assistance.
Ömer’s and Elif’s Marital Home

This is the only Kara Para Aşk filming location on Istanbul’s Asian side.
The house perfectly represents Istanbul’s traditional wooden homes. Its pink exterior walls also make it look especially pretty on television.
If you are a fan of Ömer and Elif, this is definitely one of the Istanbul filming locations worth adding to your travel list.
